Making our Community Place Plan

What is a Community Place Plan?

A Community Place Plan allows local people to take control of how they want their community developed. Local people create these plans and they give them a say over what they do or do not want developed; where they do or do not want development to take place; and helps secure public spaces and places for community benefit. Everyone has a say in this, whether you are a resident, a young person, school pupil, local business, or young family. This Community Place Plan, by law, feeds into our Local Development Plans, developed by the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and Stirling Council. They must include the needs and wants of the local community into their plans. In turn, this feeds into the National Planning Framework – the Scottish Government’s planning proposals.

Why are they Important?

The Community Place Plan we create in Strathfillan will directly feed into national Government policy. If we do not create a Community Place Plan, we will not have our voice heard, and this could mean that we find development happening to us, rather than by and through us. It is vitally important that you take part in this process.
